Our Favorite Sonoma Restaurants
The Breakaway Cafe
Located about a mile north of the Sonoma Plaza on Highway 12, the Breakaway Cafe is one of our favorite places to hang out. While the dineresque atmosphere is quite casual, don't let that fool you! They have the best breakfast in town, and a lunch and dinner menu that will please the most finicky foodie. You'll notice the friendly energy as soon as you walk in the door. It's no wonder that this is where the locals like to hang out.
The El Dorado Kitchen
Located on the Northwest corner of the Sonoma Plaza, the El Dorado Kitchen offers a modern ambience with scrumptious, creative food. Eat in the open hip dining room, or just hang out at the bar or out on the spacious patio. You'll find their drinks, appetizers and main courses nothing shy of superb. Definitely the "in" spot in Sonoma!
The General's Daughter
Everyone has to try The General's Daughter at least once - and when you do, you'll be back. Located just a few blocks west of the plaza on Spain Street, this restaurant offers a cozy Victorian atmosphere and some of the finest food in the region. Most of the produce is locally grown maintaining the highest standards of organic and biodynamic farming. This delivers a flavor that is unmatched by most other restaurants. You'll feel as if you were transformed back into the days of early California as you and your guests are pampered by the staff and owners.
The Girl and the Fig
The Girl and the Fig will definately not disappoint. Conveniently located on the Northwest corner of the Sonoma Plaza, this place has, by far, the best cocktails in town. This restaurant - known by locals as "The Fig" - offers an incredible wine list consisting of mainly Rhone varietals. The food is absolutely divine, bringing you subtle hints of the French Provence with a unique spin. This place is one of our staples!
Cafe La Haye
Located on Napa Street, just off the Southeast corner of the Sonoma Plaza, Cafe La Haye is the type of restaurant where you walk in the door and immediately feel right at home. The food is exquisite, prepared with the freshest organic ingredients. Don't let the simplicity of the food selections fool you though - this food is fantastic! The menu always changes, allowing the chef to incorporate only the freshest of ingredients.
The Swiss Hotel
Located on the North side of the Sonoma Plaza, The Swiss Hotel is one of the oldest establishments in town. Feel the excitement and fun as you pass through the front outside dining area, known as the best place in town for people watching. Walk into the bar and view the pictures on the wall, and you'll likely be transported back to the days of Sonoma's rich historical past. Notice the "Old West" character of the dining room as you feast on simple, yet wonderfully prepared food. Anyone who has ever been to Sonoma will claim to have been to the Swiss Hotel, so be sure to claim your own story.
